29 April 2008 Hard laser for soft-tissue procedures
THE FOTONA XD-2 HAS A WIDE RANGE OF APPLICATIONS AND IS IDEAL FOR THE FIRST-TIME USER
High Tech Laser introduces the XD-2 diode laser (810 nm): a compact laser for dentists starting to integrate laser in their practices. With this, the specialist in dental lasers taps into the growing dental field’s demand for an affordable and multi-functional appliance.
High capacity …
With a maximum capacity of 7 Watt, the XD-2 supplies sufficient energy to carry out safe and efficient processes on soft tissue. The very fine fibres enable the dentist to easily reach the whole oral cavity and to work with extreme exactitude.
The diode laser is ideal for small surgical applications, with perfect coagulation and no necrosis. The dentist’s work is more pleasant if there is no bleeding, while the patient will definitely benefit from the reduced post-operative pain and the fact that there is no swelling after the operation. Examples of such applications are, among others, fibroma removal, frenectomy, treating aphths, herpes and abscesses.
Another interesting indication of this diode laser is sulcus removal in preparing to cap a tooth. One is assured of a beautiful imprint without having to use retraction cord or expasyl®, thanks to the XD-2. In the treatment of sub-gingival tooth decay, too, where bleeding occurs, one can avoid an extra session to finish off the treatment as a result of the coagulating effect of the diode laser.
Furthermore, the sterilising effect of the diode laser can also be used in endodontic and periodontic treatments. The fine fibres (200 and 300 micron) enable one to deliver the laser energy exactly where it is required, even in the apex or at the bottom of a pocket.
… small casing.
The XD-2 diode laser weighs just over 1 kg and is so compact that it fits snugly in one’s hand. The appliance is extremely user-friendly, with preset keys to select various applications. Thanks to the intuitive control interface, the treatment options are quick and easy to set.

High Tech Laser was founded in 1989 in the lap of the first B&Co division, namely Lasermedico, as a specialized division in performance dental lasers and devices for dentists, oral hygienists, stomatologists and maxillofacial surgeons. At that time, High Tech Laser was the pioneer in the development of the first hard tissue laser dentistry. Years later, High Tech Laser is now the market leader in the Benelux with a complete innovative and quality rich line of dental lasers for a wide field of applications such as teeth bleaching, cavity preparation, gingivectomy, parodontology, endodonty, sensitive tooth neck, crown preparation assistance and many, many others. At the beginning of 2007, its market leadership was confirmed when the Dutch dental laser specialist Ricana opened shop in the field of high tech laser as High Tech Laser Netherlands.
High Tech Laser has its own service department and is known for its diverse training programs, as well as for its collaboration with universities and their Sola organization for the promotion of the dental laser technology.
